The SETAC United Kingdom (UK) Council would like to invite you to attend the SETAC UK Branch 2017 Annual Meeting, which will be held on 21 September 2017 at the Oxford Union in Oxford, UK. The venue is home to the prestigious debating chamber where politicians, celebrities and even Kermit the Frog have made influential speeches and declarations throughout the ages. The theme of the 2017 event will not be Kermit affirming his love for Miss Piggy but instead focus on 'UK Science in a Changing World: Addressing New Challenges in Environmental Toxicology and ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº'. Attendees will be from across academia, government and business, so the event will be an ideal opportunity to make new connections, meet up with collaborators, present your own research or simply come along to listen to new scientific developments at a beautiful venue in the heart of Oxford.
The event is open to members and non-members of SETAC. Confirmed keynote speakers include Mark Earnshaw of The REACH Centre in Lancaster, Alistair Boxall of the University of York, and Steve Norman from RidgewayEco in Didcot. Anne Alix, current SETAC Europe Vice President and who will assume her responsibilities as the SETAC Europe President in May 2017, will also be attending. Delegates are invited to submit abstracts for either a spotlight poster, which involves a five-minute platform presentation and poster, or a poster presentation. Abstract submission and registration is OPEN until the 11th August. Click on 'OPEN' to be transferred to our abstract submission and registration page on TSGE Forum's website. For additional information on the abstract submission process, contact setacukbranch@gmail.com.
A limited number of competitive travel bursary awards are available to enable student member participation, and these can be applied for during the registration process. There will also be two student prizes on offer – best spotlight and best poster presentation as selected by the SETAC UK Council. Both prizes are FREE student registration at SETAC Europe 2018 in Rome!!!
Please consider attending this meeting, supporting the UK Branch and meeting first-hand the UK Council and our newly established Student Council. We are currently seeking event sponsors. If you are interested, please contact setacukbranch@gmail.com for details.
