RSC Desktop Seminars are an ongoing initiative from the ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº to bring cutting-edge research directly to you! Now, more than ever, there is a crucial need for sharing research, and each seminar in this series will feature presentations from Editorial and Community Board members of
Materials Horizons and Nanoscale Horizons.

In this installment, join Nanoscale Horizons Scientific Editor, Professor Wenlong Cheng (Monash University, Australia) and Materials Horizons Community Board member, Professor Ritu Gupta (IIT Jodhpur, India) to hear about their latest work.

This 90-minute seminar will allow researchers of all professional levels to connect and share ideas and ask questions.

Speakers
Professor Wenlong Cheng, Monash University, Australia

Wenlong Cheng is a professor and director of research in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University, Australia. He was also an Ambassador Tech Fellow in Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication. He earned his PhD from Changchun Institute of Applied ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005 and his BS from Jilin University, China in 1999. He was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics and a research associate with the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering of Cornell University before joining the Monash University in 2010. His research interest focuses on functionalized gold nanocrystals for 2D nanoassemblies, disruptive soft wearable sensors, soft energy devices, and soft plasmonic metamaterials.


Professor Ritu Gupta, India

Ritu Gupta is Assistant Professor at Department of ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº, Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur since August 2015. She served as one of the youngest Head of Department during 2017-2020. She earned her Masters and PhD in Materials Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore in 2013. She has worked on interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects as visiting researcher at Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Denmark Technical University and Nanotechnology Centre at Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa during PhD and as research associate at Birck Nanotechnology Centre, Purdue University before joining IIT Jodhpur in 2015. She has extensive experience of working on transparent conducting metal mesh electrodes for optoelectronic devices and sensors. Her research group focuses on development of functional and scalable nanomaterials for devices in the areas of energy, water and healthcare. She is also a recipient of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Young Scientist Medal 2020.
