Priorities for climate change in the UK: the National Adaptation Programme and next steps for policy and practice

15 November 2018 09:00-13:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
This seminar will provide a timely opportunity for delegates to assess the key priorities for policy and the recommendations from the Climate Change Adaptation Sub-Committee - as it examines progress on the National Adaptation Programme (NAP).
Discussion will focus on how the new guidance on the NAP might impact major stakeholders - including those in agriculture, water, local government and industry - as well as emerging challenges and areas of responsibility.
At a pivotal point in the Brexit process, delegates will also consider issues around the UK’s departure from the European Union - with discussion expected on questions over international environmental relationships and the UK policy framework, the implications of changes to international trade and supply chains, and potential commercial and environmental opportunities for the UK going forward.
Further sessions will bring out latest thinking on priorities for enabling resilience across major sectors, looking at the roles of businesses and their advisors, local government, environmental interests, and finance and infrastructure groups in enhancing adaptation preparedness - as well as ways to improve collaboration between stakeholders and policymakers, and the policy guidance provided for meeting the objectives of the 25 Year Environment Plan.
