Radionuclide Production in the UK

18 October 2023 08:45-18:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
**REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED - THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED**

Introduction
The RSC Radiochemistry Group are pleased to present this scientific meeting on Radionuclide Production in the UK. The meeting will explore the current status of radionuclide production and prospects for the future. Radionuclide production for nuclear medicine and other applications will be covered in this meeting.

Despite being a world-leading presence in radionuclide production half a century ago, the UK’s domestic supply of radionuclides for medicine and other application is now weak. All radionuclides used clinically in the UK, except short-lived ones produced on-site in hospital cyclotrons, are now imported. Nevertheless there is a modest research and development presence in the UK and there has been significant and successful advocacy effort recently to raise its profile and importance with the UK government. This one-day conference aims to bring together stakeholders and researchers in the field or radionuclide production (including those involved in producing radionuclides from legacy nuclear waste, reactors, cyclotron facilities and other technologies, and in purification of radionuclides) with a view to ensuring that members of this community are mutually aware and can work synergistically to develop a UK presence in this field.

Event details
The meeting will be held on Wednesday 18 October 2023 at Governors Hall, St Thomas' Hospital, London.

We have a number of invited speakers who will be presenting their research and development and facility development across the range of technologies including extraction from nuclear waste, accelerator/cyclotron-based production and purification methods and new technologies, and the current growth and innovation in the uses of radionuclides. We will also be accepting abstracts for posters on the these topics which will be on display throughout the meeting.

As part of the event there will also be an optional tour of King's College London's Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Laboratory (CARL) facility.
